PROMPTOR-FM has several uses:

    1. as a stand alone program at the point of service with patients, it will often lead to interactive

       discussions about the appropriate use of tests.

    2. as a personal learning tool away from the point of service, one quickly learns the characteristics of 

        commonly used tests in practice, which will lead one to more appropriate test ordering.

    3. as a teaching aid for interns and residents, it is extremely useful for learning the judicious and cost

        effective issues of test ordering in addition to reinforcing the characteristics of diagnostic tests such as

        sensitivity, specificity, prevalence, pre-test likelihood,  predictive values.
